I’ve worked in and around West End as a massage therapist and acupuncturist for 17 years. I love being part of this progressive and colourful community, which I find energising and inspiring.
Opening Moxa on vibrant Boundary Street was a dream come true for me. This has been further reinforced by finding the team of Moxa practitioners and collaborating with them as the clinic has evolved and grown.
Clinically, I’m a registered acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist, recognised by private health funds as a provider of these services, as well as remedial massage therapy.
I’m particularly interested in treating women’s health and helping couples overcome fertility issues. I also love treating pregnant women, helping them and their partner towards the birthing process, and offering ongoing support postpartum. It’s a unique and special honour to be involved in such an important part of people’s lives.
Having said that, I really enjoy the diversity of my practice and enjoy helping people overcome whatever ailment they might have. Before I was an acupuncturist, I was a massage therapist and still love to combine, for example, acupuncture with techniques that I learned during that time to overcome acute and chronic pain.
No two days are ever the same in my clinic and I really enjoy the challenge that provides. I also enjoy learning and growing as a therapist, and working towards the development of my profession. I regularly attend seminars, have taught at the Australian College of Natural Medicine (now Endeavour College) and I'm a former member of the Queensland State Committee of the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association. I hope to pursue a Masters in the not-too-distant future.
Personally, I spend much of my spare time renovating a very old but much-loved house in nearby Annerley. I grew up in the country, so I love getting out of the city for the quiet and beauty of open spaces and forests. I enjoy camping and hiking, and am an avid rock climber.
It’s not all action though. A rainy day, PJs and a great book can be heavenly too!
